Medicare Information

Medicare is a social insurance program that is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Medicare has operated as a single-payer healthcare system for all enrollees since being signed into law on July 30, 1965. Most persons over the age of 65 are eligible to enroll, and Medicare currently provides healthcare coverage for more than 40 million Americans, with that number expected to rise to over 70 million by 2031.

The federal government is the largest payor for most medical practices due to the size of programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. It is therefore vitally important to the career of any medical biller to have a strong understanding of the CMS guidelines for Medicare billing.

PracticeAdmin software makes it easy to submit claims electronically according to Medicare’s rules and regulations for all Part B, and some Part A, Medicare claims billing. PracticeAdmin customers also receive help with the Medicare enrollment process from a dedicated member of our support team. Constant phone calls to check on the status of your Medicare EDI enrollment can be a very frustrating experience- not to mention the amount of time you can waste sitting on hold. Therefore, a dedicated member of PracticeAdmin’s Support Team helps our customers by following-up with Medicare and checking on the status of their paperwork to get their EDI connections turned on as quickly as possible.
