It is very hard to detect and or prove, and can cost healthcare organizations and providers millions of dollars. It is very important to thoroughly check the background of any person or company you are giving access to your accounts receivables- which are the lifeblood of your business.

There are many fly-by-night medical billing schools and certification bodies that offer professional designations that aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. You should be wary of anyone who claims to be able to do your billing for much cheaper than the prices you are being quoted by others- remember the old adage: if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Only work with medical billers and/or billing services that have a demonstrated ability to conduct timely filing and manage insurance claims throughout the medical billing process.
