Whether you are a medical billing professional seeking continuing education opportunities to keep your skills sharp, or are someone who is just thinking about starting a medical billing and/or coding career- there are a wide variety of options available to you on the internet. In fact, using “medical billing training” as a search string on Google yields over 1 million results. There are 3 basic types of medical billing training:

  1. Medical Billing Schools and Courses- Basic training designed to give you the information you need about the medical billing industry in order to begin a career as a medical biller. Courses exist which prepare you to work in a home-based medical billing business of your own, for a large CBO or third-party medical billing service, or in the business office of a medical practice. 2. Continuing Education on CMS Billing Rules and Regulations- Intermediate/Advanced training designed to give working medical billers the information you need to create claims according to the latest medical billing and coding compliance standards set by CMS.
